Norwood Productions Doubles Down on ADJ Jolt Power with Major Fixture Investment

South African event production specialist Norwood Productions has significantly expanded its lighting inventory with the addition of 30 ADJ Jolt Panel FXIP fixtures, supplied by DWR Distribution. The purchase builds on the company’s existing stock of 30 ADJ Jolt Bar FXIP units, bringing its total inventory of ADJ’s powerful Jolt-series fixtures to an impressive 60.

Based in Randburg, Norwood Productions provides comprehensive technical solutions for a wide variety of events, offering a full turnkey service that covers everything from initial planning and creative design through to equipment supply, installation, and on-site technical support. Founder Chris Norwood has been a long-time supporter of the ADJ brand and says the decision to expand the company’s Jolt inventory was straightforward, thanks to the fixtures’ versatility and value.

“We bought the fixtures because, for the cost and what they offer, they’re excellent,” says Chris. “We can use them for eye candy or architectural lighting – and now that they’re IP rated, they work well outdoors too. They can act as a wash fixture, and the strobe effect is fantastic for live shows, whether it’s rock ‘n roll or dance events.”

The ADJ Jolt Panel FXIP is a rugged, IP65-rated fixture designed for both indoor and outdoor applications. It combines powerful strobe capability with vibrant colour wash and dynamic eye-candy effects in a single unit. The fixture features 800 x 0.5-Watt RGB SMD LEDs that deliver intense colour output, paired with 48 x 5-Watt white SMD LEDs positioned centrally to generate a bold, classic strobe effect.

Both LED systems are divided into independently controllable zones — 40 zones for the colour LEDs and six zones for the white strobe LEDs — giving lighting designers the ability to create intricate animated chase patterns and highly dynamic visual effects. This flexible design makes the fixture equally suited to concert touring, festivals, broadcast productions, and large-scale live events.

Norwood’s existing inventory of ADJ Jolt Bar FXIP fixtures complements the new panels perfectly. The linear-format fixture offers similar creative capabilities with a distinctive elongated design that is ideal for building striking stage looks, dynamic pixel-mapped effects, and bold audience-facing visuals.

Having worked closely with DWR Distribution over many years, Chris also highlights the importance of strong local support when investing in new equipment.

“We don’t have to stress about repairs because DWR backs the product,” he explains. “ADJ has also become a bit of an industry standard because of this. There are a lot of them on the market, which makes dry hire easy, and if we need to scale up to something like 100 fixtures for a show, we know we can source additional units without a problem.”

Reliability has also proven to be a key factor in the company’s ongoing commitment to the brand.

“For the price, the quality is really good,” adds Chris. “We brought the first ADJ fixtures into our rental stock in 2023, and we haven’t had a single issue or needed repairs.”
