Introducing ADJ’s Next-Generation Blinder: Encore DBX

Packed with features and offering unrivalled versatility, the new Encore DBX from ADJ is designed to create attention-grabbing visuals for concerts, events, and productions. This IP65-rated, full-color, twin cell audience blinder features a rear reflector illuminated by secondary RGB color mixing LEDs, adding a distinctive background glow to the fixture’s output. Merging high-output power with creative versatility, the Encore DBX delivers lighting designers an unprecedented level of creative freedom.
A pair of potent 150-watt RGBAW color mixing LEDs provide the Encore DBX’s main light source, capable of generating an intense output of up to 11,465 lumens in a wide spectrum of colors. Each LED offers independent dimming, color mixing, and strobing control, providing lighting designers with complete flexibility. The fixture offers variable white color temperature control ranging from 2700K to 6500K, as well as a Tungsten Control Mode that allows the creation of classic warm white blinder effects. In addition, full color mixing allows for the creation of dazzling colored blinder, wash, and strobe effects that offer creative potential that goes far beyond what could be achieved with traditional blinders.

RGB color mixing LEDs are embedded into the unit’s edges, which illuminate a textured background reflector. These can be used to generate vibrant background glow effects for the primary blinder LEDs to punch through, providing another dimension for creativity. Built-in programs are supplied for both the primary blinders and background LEDs, aiding swift programming, and the LED refresh rate is configurable to remove flicker when used for broadcast applications.

With a rugged IP65-rated enclosure, the Encore DBX is built to brave the elements. It features a robust variable-angled mounting yoke, which locks securely into place using a pair of thumb-tightening screws and features Omega bracket receivers. In addition, a second set of Omega bracket receivers is located on the rear panel of the fixture, allowing direct mounting to a truss or lighting bar without the use of the yoke. Locking pins integrated into the top and side of the fixture fix securely to corresponding recesses in the bottom and opposite side of neighboring fixtures to allow the creation of vertical or horizontal blinder arrays – for example combining two units to create a 4-cell blinder. Each blinder cell also pivots from left to right to facilitate different configurations.
IP65-rated power input and output sockets (allowing multiple fixtures to be linked from a single power outlet), along with IP65-rated 5-pin DMX input and output sockets, are located on the rear of the fixture. A wide variety of DMX modes (utilizing between 5 and 41 channels) allow configuration for different applications, and an intuitive menu interface accessible via an OLED digital display on the rear of the unit allows for easy setup and addressing. The fixture also supports Aria X2 technology, allowing wireless DMX control as well as remote configuration and OTA (Over The Air) firmware updates from the Aria X2 BLE app.

“The Encore DBX isn’t just a blinder – it’s a creative tool,” says Alfred Gonzales, ADJ USA’s Director of Sales. “By combining a traditional blinder layout with the flexibility of full color mixing and unique background glow effects, we’ve given lighting designers a fixture that can deliver classic looks as well as cutting-edge visual moments, both indoors and outdoors.”
Multiple Encore DBX fixtures can be seamlessly connected in an array pattern, either horizontally or vertically, using the custom locking pin system. Up to eight units can be suspended in a vertical configuration.
The Encore DBX is shipping now from ADJ USA and is due to arrive in stock at ADJ Europe early next month (September 2025).
