ADJ Vizi Beam CMY Fixtures Deliver Dynamic Impact for Fifth Avenue Dance Competition in Belgium

Touring across multiple cities in Belgium, Fifth Avenue Dance Competition is a vibrant national event that showcases the talents of young dancers across a wide range of styles. From classical ballet to high-energy street dance, each performance demands a lighting system capable of both subtlety and spectacle. Since 2024, production company DDA Sound & Light has served as the event’s technical supplier, delivering a flexible and efficient setup that enhances every routine.

At the heart of the lighting rig are eight of ADJ’s powerful Vizi Beam CMY automated luminaires, deployed to generate striking aerial effects that elevate the visual impact of the show. Positioned evenly across left and right upstage trusses, the fixtures project intense beams from behind the performers, adding depth, movement, and atmosphere to each routine. DDA Sound & Light invested in a total of 16 Vizi Beam CMY fixtures in 2025 and has used them for a wide variety productions and dry hire projects in addition to the touring setup for the Fifth Avenue Dance Competition.

“We bought the Vizi Beam CMYs to replace older beams in our inventory,“ explains DDA Sound & Light’s Dieter Antheunis. “These fixtures fill the gap in our rental range as a cost effective, high impact show lamp. The CMY color mixing is, for us, a very important feature for the shows we do. Not only does it allow increased creative potential, but enhanced compatibility with other fixtures as we can match colors effectively.”

The Vizi Beam CMY represents the next evolution in ADJ’s popular Vizi Series, combining immense output with an extensive array of creative tools. Powered by the Osram Sirius HRI 310W PRO discharge lamp, the fixture produces a tight 2-degree beam with exceptional intensity, projected through high-quality optics and a large front lens. Its comprehensive feature set includes CMY color mixing, a 14-color wheel plus open white, 17 static GOBOs (including beam reducers), dual overlapping prisms, motorized focus, and a frost filter. High-performance 3-phase motors ensure ultra-fast and precise pan and tilt movement, while the integrated Aria X2 wireless transceiver enables reliable wireless DMX control and remote fixture management.

Despite the scale and energy of the event, efficiency is key to the successful delivery of each Fifth Avenue Dance Competition show. DDA Sound & Light has refined a streamlined production workflow that allows for rapid setup without compromising on quality.

“From load-in and building the base structure to completing the lighting and sound setup, it takes approximately three hours to set up for a Fifth Avenue Dance Competition show with a team of three people,” explains DDA Sound & Light’s Kevin Thoelen. “Our main goal with the lighting is to creatively support each individual performance, adapting the colors, GOBOs and movements to match the genre of music. For classical ballet, lighting is mainly used as a subtle background element, creating scenes that support the performer. For categories such as street dance and during award ceremonies, there is a stronger focus on visual impact. In these cases, the lighting clearly enhances the energy and excitement for both participants and the audience. Overall, the response is very positive in all scenarios.”

The Vizi Beam CMY fixtures form part of a broader selection of ADJ lighting solutions within DDA Sound & Light’s inventory, which are regularly deployed across both rental and production projects.

“The ADJ fixtures in our inventory – which include the Vizi Q Wash 7, Vizi CMY 300 and 12P Hex IP LED par, as well as the Vizi Beam CMY – are used extensively for both dry hire and our own productions,” concludes Kevin. “Overall, we are satisfied with their performance and versatility, especially compared to other brands.”

By combining powerful beam effects, versatile color control, and reliable performance, ADJ’s Vizi Beam CMY fixtures play a key role in delivering a polished and engaging visual experience for every stop of the Fifth Avenue Dance Competition tour — helping to bring each dancer’s performance vividly to life.
