ADJ Lighting Drives Immersive, High-Energy Visuals for HBz Family Tour

ADJ lighting fixtures have played a central role in shaping the bold, immersive visual identity of recent tours by German DJ and producer duo HBz. Designed and delivered by VISO Production, the lighting system formed the backbone of a highly adaptable production that successfully scaled across a wide range of venues, from intimate club spaces to large-capacity arenas.

By combining creative stage design with powerful, versatile fixtures, the production delivered a cohesive and high-impact audience experience that remained consistent despite varying room sizes and technical demands. With approximately 25,000 tickets sold for both the original 2024 run and expanded 2025 tour, the lighting design was instrumental in reinforcing the show’s strong visual branding while supporting the duo’s focus on fan connection and engagement.

Launched in 2024 as the ‘HBz Family Tour’, the concept was built around creating a deeper connection between the artists and their fans, moving beyond traditional club shows to a fully branded touring experience. Following the success of the initial nine dates, the concept expanded in 2025 into the ‘HBz Family Forever Tour’, reaching 12 cities and even larger audiences. Central to both productions was a custom lighting and effects design that evolved with each year’s creative theme, while maintaining the flexibility required to scale between venues ranging from 1,500-capacity clubs to arenas exceeding 5,000 capacity.

VISO Production, led by Nicolai Schanz, has worked closely with HBz since their earliest performances, growing alongside the duo to deliver increasingly ambitious productions. For both tours, the company provided a full-service solution, collaborating with Light Art Studios GmbH to create and execute distinctive visual concepts tailored to each year’s theme.

For the 2024 tour, the stage design embraced a vibrant ‘funfair’ aesthetic. A carnival-inspired backdrop was framed by 44 ADJ Encore LP7 IP LED Pars, whose robust construction and consistent output made them ideal for delivering bold, saturated color washes reminiscent of classic fairground lighting. Their 4-in-1 RGBL LEDs and variable white color temperature allowed for both vivid looks and balanced illumination across a wide range of venues.

Adding depth and movement to the stage were six custom-built dollies, each constructed using Duratruss U-Frames and rigged with vertically stacked ADJ Focus Flex moving heads. In total, 30 Focus Flex fixtures were deployed, complemented by six Focus Flex L19 units providing powerful and adaptable front light. Compact yet extremely agile, the Focus Flex proved integral to the design, combining seven 40W RGBW LEDs with individual pixel control, fast motorized zoom (4° to 31°), and rapid pan/tilt movement to generate everything from wide washes to tight aerial beam effects. Meanwhile, the larger Focus Flex L19 fixtures, with their nineteen 40W RGBL LEDs and high CRI output, ensured performers were consistently well-lit, even as stage sizes varied significantly from venue to venue.

In 2025, the visual concept shifted gears to a high-energy ‘racing’ theme, anchored by a striking centerpiece: a custom ‘racing traffic light’ constructed from 20 Focus Flex fixtures. This installation showcased the fixture’s fast movement, punchy output, and pixel-mapping capabilities, delivering dynamic visual cues that reinforced the theme while synchronizing seamlessly with the music.

“For the 2024 dollies and especially for the 2025 racing traffic light structure, compact and lightweight wash fixtures with fast pan and tilt movement were essential,” explains Nicolai. “The ADJ Focus Flex met these requirements perfectly while still delivering strong output. The individually controllable pixels enabled dynamic effects, while the fast motorized zoom allowed for impactful beam looks. The Focus Flex L19 fixtures were chosen for their strong output and versatile zoom range, which made them adaptable to the varying stage sizes. Additionally, the lime-enhanced LED system provides a high CRI, making them well suited for white front lighting.”

Framing the stage for the 2025 run was an array of 48 ADJ Jolt Bar FXIP linear fixtures, which became a defining element of the design. Their combination of high-output white strobe LEDs and RGB color sections, arranged in independently controllable zones, allowed for intense strobe hits, flowing chases, and layered color effects. A further 10 units were positioned beneath the elevated DJ booth, creating a floating illusion when combined with haze, adding another dimension to the visual experience. The Jolt Bar FXIP’s robust IP65 rating and powerful output also made it a versatile choice beyond the tour, with VISO Production regularly deploying the fixtures for outdoor events.

Despite the scale and demanding nature of the touring schedule, VISO Production reports consistently strong performance from the ADJ fixtures. Reliability proved to be a key advantage, with minimal issues encountered throughout both tours. In the rare instances where support was required, ADJ’s responsive service and readily available spare parts ensured any challenges were resolved quickly — an important factor in maintaining smooth operations on the road.

With another HBz tour already planned for 2026 — set to further enhance audience interaction through a ‘get closer’ concept and central stage design — ADJ lighting fixtures are once again expected to play a crucial role in bringing the production to life.
